This historic 19th-century hotel is scheduled to be closed for much of 2006, but should be open later in the year.  The Capital offers intimate, full service accommodations in 121 rooms and five suites, and has three dining spots:  Ashley's, an elegant, white tablecloth restaurant:  the Capital Bar and Grill, which has a more casual atmosphere; and the Capital Cellar, an intimate, reservation only place in the hotel's basement wine cellar.

The famous Peabody ducks make their entrance at 11:00 a.m. and retire every evening at 5:00 p.m., but this downtown hotel offers plenty more.  the Peabody home is to an Italian restaurant, Capriccio, and two bars, one in the lobby and one called Mallard's, just like in Memphis.  The hotel is adjacent to the Statehouse Convention Center.
