Downtown
A NEIGHBOORHOOD REBORN
The past few years have seen incredible interest in River Market District lofts and condos. Numerous developments are in various phases of construction to satisfy demand. In the multi-purpose First Security Building, condo owners live floors above the Courtyard Marriott on President Clinton Avenue; the popular Vermillion Water Grille restaurant shares space with condo owners in the Capital Commerce Center a few blocks south; and construction is under way on another condo high rise a stone's throw away, with plans in the works for several more.
Low maintenance and convenience are two major reasons that people choose to move downtown. Loft living primarily appeals to young professionals and couples, many of whom work in the area and enjoy walking to nearby restaurants and clubs.
Residents of the high-rise homes include traveling professionals, empty nesters and local folks acquiring a downtown getaway for business and pleasure. Throw in celebrities such as Mary Steenburgen and husband Ted Danson and you've got a happening place. With access to the Clinton Presidential Center, Acxiom headquarters, and new Heifer International headquarters and Global Village within short walking distance, what more could anyone ask for? Walk north and enjoy a drink at the nationally recognized Capital Hotel, a little duck viewing at The Peabody Little Rock or a performance by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra at the Robinson Center Music Hall - not to mention the lively clubs and restaurants of the River Market District and views of the Arkansas River. It's all about location, location, location.
